When Kamilla Schatz plays, she becomes one with her instrument. She merges with her violin and completely devotes herself to the music. Kamilla Schatz is a renowned violinist who has studied under Françoise and Sándor Zöldy, under Szymon Goldberg at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and under Lorand Fenyves in Toronto. Her career has taken her to most European countries, as well as to Asia and the USA. Along the way, she has performed at festivals, such as the Lucerne Festival, Berliner Festwochen and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. She has also played as a soloist with the SWR Symphony Orchestra Freiburg, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and many other orchestras of high repute. In the past two years, alongside her work as a soloist, she has recorded two highly regarded CDs and enthralled audiences at numerous concerts as a member of the Zurich Ensemble. Currently, she is planning to record a CD of works by Nikolai Roslavets at WDR in June 2016 – together with pianist Oliver Triendl. After that, another CD production is scheduled for December 2016 with ARS Productions. Kamilla Schatz and pianist Benjamin Engeli will be the first Swiss duo to record Ludwig van Beethoven's complete violin sonatas.

In addition to these CD productions and a number of concerts, 2016 will also include an artist residency at the Swiss summer festival Murten Classics. In this context, Kamilla Schatz will play a defining role in five concerts for the festival. Here, she will also play «The Four Seasons» by Vivaldi, which she will supplement with intermezzi specially composed for her by Swiss composer Fabian Müller.

Kamilla Schatz's violin has always been a voice for her, one with which she can express anything. On each occasion, she tries to experience the music anew, as something unique should occur at every concert. Her hope is that she can move people with her music. For Kamilla Schatz, art (and therefore also music) is not a luxury, it is what defines humanity.

After so many years of travelling and concertizing, I decided in spring 2017 to explore new aspects of life. As founder and director of the Pestalozzi Schoolcamps, I lead an education-program for swiss school-classes.
